Like EMS, the Exchange 2010 version of EMC is based on remote PowerShell and RBAC. When EMC starts, it contacts a server to initialize a remote PowerShell session. Usually, EMC selects the computer on which it is running if it is an Exchange 2010 server, but you can select a specific server by clicking the Microsoft Exchange (On-Premises) root and then right-clicking to access properties. For example, if the user moves to Server Configuration and clicks Client Access Servers, EMC executes cmdlets such as Get-OWAVirtualDirectory, Get-OABVirtualDirectory, and Get-ActiveSyncVirtualDirectory. Another example is when the user moves to the Recipient Configuration section, EMC executes the following command to fetch details of all mailenabled recipients subject to the constraint set by the maximum number of objects to retrieve from Active Directory. It also sorts the fetched objects.
